BCLS Snow and Ice Management De-icing and Anti-Icing
There are two aspects of a snow operation – salting and plowing. When paved surfaces start to freeze from falling precipitation, salting operations begin on our properties and continue until all paved surfaces are bare or until salting is no longer effective due to the depth of snow. The more traffic on your pavement, the more effective the salt. At BCLS Snow & Ice Management we utilize several De-Icing and Anti-Icing practices.
Anti-Icing
Anti-icing is a strategy which applies snow and ice control materials before or immediately after a snow event starts. The objective of anti-icing is to prevent bonding of snow and ice to a pavement surface. This is often called ‘pre-salting’ if performed prior to the start of the storm. At BCLS Snow & Ice Management we perform anti-icing application both with sodium chloride (Bulk Salt) and liquids such as Salt Brine applied with our specialized liquid application equipment.
De-icing:
De-Icing applications are made after an accumulation of snow or ice to melt snow or ice and to improve safety and accessibility. Salting is a necessity in all markets as fluctuating temperatures cause freeze thaw cycles. At BCLS Snow & Ice Management, Our ‘ICE WATCH PROGRAM’ not only help expedite the melting process on paved surfaces after a plowing operation but also during our nightly ‘ICE WATCHES’ to treat area that have thawed and refreeze overnight.

The additions of Magic Salt and Calcium Magnesium Acetate (CMA) to our product line-up are examples of this commitment. Both are safe, non-corrosive, and environmentally friendly. We also make available to our customers Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all products we use.
